Washington—Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) today released the following statement:

“The good news is that the Senate has passed a bipartisan agreement to reopen the government and prevent default. This removes a degree of uncertainty heading into the holiday season and immediately reopens the federal government.

“What is clear to me is that if the faction of Republicans that precipitated this crisis employs the same failed strategy next year, we may find ourselves right back in the same situation in just a few months. And that is unacceptable.

“So, I am hopeful that cooler heads will prevail and ultimately a long-term agreement can be reached so this government will not continue to lurch from crisis to crisis.

“It is time to end the hostage taking, brinksmanship and heated rhetoric and for Congress to demonstrate that it remains capable of running this government, paying the country’s bills and caring for its citizens.”
