Washington—Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) released the following statement on Turkey’s attack on Kurdish positions in Syria after President Trump withdrew U.S forces:
“With U.S. support, the Kurds liberated millions of people and reclaimed thousands of square miles from ISIS, while sustaining nearly 11,000 casualties in the process. They fought and died on our behalf, only to now be abandoned by the president, against the best advice from the intelligence community, U.S. military and State Department.
“Abandoning the Syrian Kurds and greenlighting Turkey’s campaign to decimate them risks American interests in the entire region and our reputation as a partner around the world. Congress must work to reverse this disastrous decision.”
