Washington—Senate Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) today released the following statement on the testimony of Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch:

“Ambassador Yovanovitch served as a diplomat for more than three decades – often in hazardous posts – and she served with distinction.

“Today, she did an excellent job testifying under very difficult circumstances. She was credible and effective and I think provided the American public with very important information. She is the kind of ambassador all of us should be proud of.

“There’s no question that Ambassador Yovanovitch spent her time in Ukraine fighting corruption and ably representing the United States. That’s why her testimony about a lack of support from the State Department and White House is so troubling.

“Ambassador Yovanovitch made an excellent point today: ‘Shady interests the world over have learned how little it takes to remove an American ambassador who does not give them what they want.’ She’s absolutely correct.

“I also commend Chairman Schiff for his steady, firm and respectful leadership during today’s hearing.”
