Washington—Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) today released the following statement on the announcement of a framework agreement between the P5+1 and Iran:

“There is no realistic solution to Iran’s nuclear program outside of a verifiable, broad-based and ironclad diplomatic agreement. After being briefed and reviewing the parameters, I believe the negotiators have made substantial progress and that this is a sufficient framework to produce a final agreement by the end of June.

“The P5+1 was able to extract significant concessions from Iran. This agreement includes:

• strict limitations on Iran’s enrichment capacity, preserving a one-year breakout period for at least a decade;
• limitations on centrifuge research and development;
• unprecedented IAEA access to all nuclear facilities, which is unparalleled in its invasiveness;
• continuous surveillance for all nuclear infrastructure and materials;
• sanctions relief only after IAEA has sufficiently verified Iranian compliance;
• snap back ability for any P5+1 nation to unilaterally re-impose sanctions for any Iranian violation;
• strict limitations on nuclear activity—including enrichment—at Fordow; and
• preservation of all UN sanctions related to conventional weapons, terrorism, human rights and ballistic missiles.

“I will continue to support the U.S. team and the other world powers as they work toward a final agreement.”
