Dear Mr. Pichai:

I was pleased to learn of Google’s recent pledge to invest $1 billion to build 20,000 new homes and help address the affordable housing and homelessness crisis in the Bay Area.

Any information you are able to provide about this investment is much appreciated. Specifically, I would like to know whether or not Google will use existing land it owns or if it buy up additional commercial or industrial space. Does Google intend to coordinate with local officials in identifying land parcels to purchase? With respect to Google’s generous donation to homelessness efforts, is there a particular approach that Google is interested in investing in – such as navigation centers or broader efforts to focus on comprehensive, supportive services?

I look forward to learning more about the work you are doing and finding ways for us to collaborate in the future.

Sincerely,

Dianne Feinstein
United States Senator
