Washington—Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) released the following statement after President Trump revoked the security clearance of former CIA Director John Brennan:

“The president’s decision to revoke John Brennan’s security clearance and threat to do so with others harms our national security and once again shows how petty and thin-skinned President Trump truly is.

“John Brennan is a lifelong public servant. He came up through the ranks at the CIA and spent 25 years there, including serving as chief of station in Riyadh. He was chief of staff to CIA Director George Tenet in 1999, deputy executive director of the CIA in 2001, took charge of the Terrorist Threat Integration Center in the wake of 9/11 and became CIA director in 2013.

“John Brennan worked under both Republican and Democratic presidents, and as a former chairman and vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, I can attest to John’s passion and dedication to our country. No one knows the intelligence world better than John.

“There’s a good reason that former national security officials are granted continued access to sensitive information. Their knowledge and understanding — and in many cases direct involvement — of complex global issues is second to none, and they offer invaluable service by collaborating with current national security leaders.”
