Feinstein Cheers Saving Methane Rule
May 10 2017
Washington—Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) today issued the following statement after the Senate defeated an effort to overturn the Bureau of Land Management’s methane and waste reduction rule:
“I’m relieved to see the Senate reject the repeal of an important environmental and waste-reduction rule. This rule prevents the leaking of 180,000 metric tons of methane each year from natural gas production on public lands.
“The Republican resolution to repeal this rule and prevent any similar reform was short-sighted and irresponsible. The methane and waste reduction rule is smart, good-government reform.”
