Washington—Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) today released the following statement on tomorrow’s House Benghazi committee hearing:

“As Senate Intelligence Committee chairman during and after the Benghazi attacks, I presided over a bipartisan investigation of the tragedy. That 16-month review found no wrongdoing by Secretary Clinton and received unanimous support from all members of the committee, Republicans and Democrats.

“I’m appalled that House Republicans are wasting time and money in an effort to disparage Secretary Clinton.

“The Senate Intelligence Committee’s review was released in January 2014 and was unanimously approved by the committee after dozens of hearings, briefings and interviews. Committee staff pored over thousands of pages of intelligence and State Department materials following the attack, and the report included 18 recommendations.

“We know what happened in Libya and we know what needs to be done to prevent future tragedies. I hope that once Secretary Clinton has testified, House Republicans will finally turn their attention to implementing existing recommendations and support the funds needed to protect our diplomats.

“Secretary Clinton supports recommendations to increase embassy security because she wants to solve the problem. Republicans would be wise to follow her example.”
