Washington—Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) today issued the following statement on the passing of Senator Dick Lugar:

“Dick Lugar was far more than a six-term senator and champion for Indiana. He was a foreign policy icon and statesman who routinely rose above party politics for the good of the country.

“Dick and I overlapped in the Senate for 20 years and we often worked together on issues like nuclear nonproliferation, New START, the Cooperative Threat Reduction Program and developing a positive post-Cold War environment.

“Dick’s steady presence will be missed, and he’ll continue to serve as a great example for us all.”
