For some time now, I have needed knee-replacement surgery, which is scheduled for tomorrow in San Francisco.

While I recover, I will not be able to travel for about three weeks. During that time, I will work from home and keep close tabs on issues of importance to California and the nation.

I look forward to returning to Washington after this brief recovery period, and to resuming a full work schedule in the 112th Congress.

I hope all Californians had a healthy and safe holiday. It is my sincere wish that 2011 will be a good year for California, for our country and for all of us.
