Press Releases

Washington—Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) today released the following statement on the confirmation of Mick Mulvaney as director of the Office of Management and Budget:

“The director of the Office of Management and Budget is charged with ensuring seamless, government-wide coordination on budgetary, regulatory and policy matters. Given his record in the House of Representatives, I don’t believe Mick Mulvaney is the right fit for this critical agency.

“During his six years in the House, Congressman Mulvaney consistently led efforts to shut down the federal government, default on the national debt, gut the social safety net, strip funding from Planned Parenthood and force disaster victims to wait for vital federal assistance.

“I believe that Congress’s most basic duties are to fund the federal government and ensure the full faith and credit of the United States. Congressman Mulvaney has been an obstacle, rather than a partner, in those efforts and should not lead the OMB.”
