Washington—Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) released the following statement on a friendly wager with Senator Bob Casey (D-Pa.) on the 2016 Stanley Cup Finals between the San Jose Sharks and the Pittsburgh Penguins:

“Within the last five years, Bay Area teams have won three World Series, one NBA Championship and missed winning a Super Bowl by three yards. Now we’ll get our chance at the NHL’s famed Stanley Cup as our San Jose Sharks take on the Pittsburgh Penguins.

“I’m excited to back the Sharks in their quest for a Cup and am confident that my wager with Senator Casey—a case of California chardonnay—will pay big dividends.

“During this year’s playoff run, the Sharks have shown that they can skate with any team. Up and down the lineup they have players with character, grit and determination—not to mention the best playoff beards in the league!

“The Penguins may have star power, but I don’t think they can match our depth. With Brent Burns’ booming slapshot, Joe Thornton’s playmaking ability, Joel Ward’s versatility and Joe Pavelski’s goal-scoring prowess, I believe this is the year the Sharks finally hoist the Stanley Cup.”
