20th anniversary of Israeli leader’s assassination

Washington—Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) today introduced a resolution honoring the life, legacy and example of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin on the 20th anniversary of his death.

Yitzhak Rabin was a man of peace. While his assassin may have ended his life 20 years ago, he remains an inspiration to me and his message must live on,” Feinstein said. “Today, with renewed violence in Israel and the Palestinian territories, his courageous leadership is an especially important model for all.”

The resolution commemorates the life and accomplishments of Rabin, recognizes the close ties between the United States and Israel and reaffirms the importance of a just and lasting peace between Israel and the Palestinians.

It is cosponsored by Senators Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), Tom Carper (D-Del.), Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.), Al Franken (D-Minn.), Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.), Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) and Tim Kaine (D-Va.).
