Press Releases

Washington—Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) today issued the following statement after the Taliban released Caitlan Coleman and her family after five years in captivity:

“It warms my heart to hear Caitlan, Josh and their young children are coming home. I worked with both the Obama and Trump administrations to push for their release, and I’m relieved to know they’re finally free.

“Their children have grown up in an unimaginable situation, held hostage in a foreign land, without access to proper medical care, unable to attend school and far from family they’ve never met. With their release, I pray they can recover the time they’ve lost and lead full and normal lives.

“While Caitlan and her family are headed home, there are many other Americans still being forcibly and unjustly held abroad. I urge the administration to continue to work for their release.”
