Washington—Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) today released the following statement on Cuba:
“The release of Alan Gross from a Cuban prison is wonderful news for his family and our country. Alan was held for five years and is in poor health, and I’m pleased he will spend the holidays at home.
“This is also good news for our two nations. For too long our relationship has been soured by mistrust and clouded by memories of the Cold War. Reports that our countries will move to normalize relations are very welcome. Reconciling our differences, opening embassies, increasing trade and building people-to-people relationships are all long overdue.
“It is my hope that normalizing relations will spur positive changes for the people of Cuba. Today is a historic day, and I am looking forward to a brighter future with our Caribbean neighbor.”
