Washington—Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) today released the following statement on the shooting death of Sergeant Steve Owen of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department:
“I’m heartbroken by the shooting death of Sergeant Steve Owen of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Sergeant Owen, a 29-year veteran of the department, was just doing his job responding to a burglary call. My thoughts are with his family, the Sheriff’s Department and the Antelope Valley community.
“By all accounts Sergeant Owen was a model police officer. He built relationships with the people he served, mentored youth in his hometown and was deeply involved in his community. As we think about how to bring our communities together, we should look to Sergeant Owen’s example.”
