Press Releases

Washington—Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) today released the following statement on the shakeup of President Trump’s national security team:

Rex Tillerson

“There’s a pattern and practice to dismiss anyone with whom this president has a policy difference, and that appears to be the case with Secretary Tillerson. I regret to say this, but it appears any number of things can put you on the wrong side of President Trump, who appears to have very little patience with anyone who has a different point of view.”

Mike Pompeo

“I have many questions for Mike Pompeo relating to skill and competence in the diplomatic field. The CIA has little to do with diplomacy, and I believe any Secretary of State requires patience, diligence and above all knowledge and skill. This isn’t a role you can learn while on the job.”

Gina Haspel

“I look forward to speaking again with Gina Haspel about the role she would play and how she would run the CIA. It’s no secret I’ve had concerns in the past with her connection to the CIA torture program and have spent time with her discussing this. To the best of my knowledge she has been a good deputy director and I look forward to the opportunity to speak with her again.
