Washington—Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) released the following statement after the announcement that CIA Inspector General David Buckley will be leaving the CIA:
“I spoke with David Buckley this morning and congratulated him on his work as CIA inspector general. He has served with distinction and integrity over the past four years and has handled several sensitive and important inspections, audits and investigations.
“I believe it is critically important to have a strong, independent inspector general at the CIA due to the nature of the work done there, and Mr. Buckley filled the role admirably. I look forward to the president’s nomination of a new IG and swift consideration by the Intelligence Committee.”
