Washington—Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) today released the following statement on the passing of Senator Kay Hagan:

“My thoughts go out to the friends and family of Senator Kay Hagan. Although we served only one term together, I got to know Kay very well and was lucky to call her a friend.

“Kay came from a proud military tradition and used her position on the Armed Services Committee to become a champion for our servicemen and women. She also used her seat on the Senate Education Committee to advocate for education reform nationwide.

“Kay exhibited the kind of problem solving we need more of in the Senate today. I was always happy to work with Kay and we’ll all miss her.”
