Feinstein Statement on Sentencing of Abu Ghayth
Sep 23 2014
Washington—Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) today released the following statement after Sulaiman Abu Ghayth, a senior member of al-Qaeda, was sentenced to life in a U.S. District Court:
“The life sentence handed down to Sulaiman Abu Ghayth, bin Laden’s son-in-law, once again shows our federal criminal court system works and that we can successfully bring al-Qaeda terrorists to justice.
“This sentencing reminds the world that the United States will continue to capture and punish our enemies.
“Since 9/11, the Department of Justice has achieved more than 500 terrorism-related convictions. I congratulate the national security professionals involved in this latest case for another successful prosecution, proving that those who seek to harm Americans cannot hide and will be held to account.”
