Press Releases

Washington—Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) today sent a letter to Senator Rob Portman (R-Ohio) congratulating him, and the Cleveland Cavaliers, on the outcome of the 2016 NBA Finals.

“The Warriors will always have a special spot in my heart, but I have to admit, I smiled when the final buzzer sounded. The pure joy on the faces of the Cavaliers and their fans was special. Cleveland has waited a long time for this championship—and they really do deserve it,” Senator Feinstein wrote.

The full text of the letter follows:

June 21, 2016

Honorable Senator Rob Portman
United States Senate
448 Russell Senate Office Building
Washington, DC 20510

Dear Senator Portman,

I wanted to wish you and your Cleveland Cavaliers a hearty congratulations on winning the NBA Championship.

Watching Game 7 Sunday, it was really special seeing the spirit and passion—not only of the Cavaliers, but the entire city of Cleveland.

The Warriors will always have a special spot in my heart, but I have to admit, I smiled when the final buzzer sounded. The pure joy on the faces of the Cavaliers and their fans was special. Cleveland has waited a long time for this championship—and they really do deserve it.

A hat tip to you, Senator Portman. Enjoy your wine, but don’t get too comfortable with that trophy.

Sincerely,

Dianne Feinstein
U.S. Senator
