Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) issued the following statement today on the earthquake in Japan and the resulting tsunami warning throughout the Pacific:

“I extend my deepest sympathies to the people of Japan and the victims of this heartbreaking tragedy. The Japanese people are among the most prepared to deal with a disaster of this magnitude, but the need for sustained aid and support will be immense. The United States stands ready to assist Japan in this time of need, and I am ready to help any Californians who have been affected by this disaster.”
