Washington—Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) released the following statement on a friendly wager with Senator Rob Portman (R-Ohio) on the 2016 NBA Finals between the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers:

“Down 3 to 1 in the Western Conference Finals, it seemed everyone in the basketball world wrote off the Warriors. But the Golden State faithful never gave up. We knew this record-setting team wouldn’t go quietly.

“Now Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and the rest of the team from Oakland face their toughest challenge yet—for the second straight year the Warriors will face the Cleveland Cavaliers with the NBA title on the line.

“Just as the Warriors are going for a second straight championship, I’m looking forward to repeating last year’s victory over Senator Portman in a friendly wager on the outcome of the series. I’m confident that my wager of California chardonnay will once again pay off handsomely.

“This has been a truly historic season for the Golden State Warriors. They have broken numerous NBA records including most wins in a regular season. Cleveland may have LeBron James, a perennial all-star, but the Warriors starting lineup is packed with stars. I think they’ll make it two in a row!”
