Washington—Senate Intelligence Committee Vice Chairman Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) today released a statement on the two-year anniversary of the House Select Committee on Benghazi:

“Two years ago this week, House Republicans began their latest attempt to use the Benghazi terrorist attacks to smear former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Since then, the committee has spent $6.8 million and has nothing to show for it.

“As Senate Intelligence Committee chairman following the Benghazi tragedy, I presided over a comprehensive, bipartisan investigation of the attacks. That 16-month review found no wrongdoing by Secretary Clinton in either the public or classified reports and received unanimous support from all committee members, Republican and Democrat.

“The House Benghazi committee isn’t the first investigation into the attacks—it’s the 10th investigation. And the committee, with nothing to show for its efforts, has been active longer than the 9/11 Commission spent looking into the 9/11 attacks.

“I’m appalled that House Republicans continue to waste time and money in an effort to disparage Secretary Clinton. It’s time to bring this House committee to a much-needed close.”
