“There are fewer than 5,000 Americans in the FBI’s Terrorist Screening Database—99.5 percent of the 1 million people in the database are foreign nationals,” said Senator Feinstein.
“It’s critically important the attorney general have the ability to use the larger database to block gun sales because you need to cast a wide net to capture individuals affiliated with al Qaeda, ISIL and Al Nusra.
“You don’t need to be a U.S. citizen to legally buy guns in this country and we need to make sure that if a foreign national is able to enter our country and is included on the Terrorist Screening Database, the individual could be blocked from legally buying a gun.”
