“The ‘Cash for Clunkers’ stimulus program has proved to be highly popular with the American people – and has achieved far greater fuel efficiency improvements than we had hoped.  This additional $2 billion will help take up to 500,000 more gas guzzlers off the road and stimulate the sales of fuel efficient vehicles like the Ford Focus or the Toyota Corolla, which is manufactured at California’s NUMMI facility. This is a win-win for the economy, the environment and the American people.”
