Washington—Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) today released the following statement after a federal district court judge blocked President Trump’s new rules implementing “conscience protections” for health providers.
“The so-called ‘conscience rule’ that would allow health care providers to deny service to patients was another effort by the administration to roll back the rights of women and the LGBTQ community.
“If implemented, the rule would have given health care providers and staff broad authority to discriminate against patients seeking care based on who they are or the care they seek.
“Discrimination in any form must not be tolerated, especially in our health care system. I’m pleased this rule has been blocked by the courts and I urge the administration to immediately rescind it.”
